Customs officers were startled to discover a sizable albino Burmese python when they opened a passenger’s carry-on bag.
Subsequently, he unseals the sack to unveil the 10-foot serpent, sound asleep inside.
In a statement issued on September 28, the Customs Department for the Tashkent region stated that they had uncovered an attempt to smuggle a three-meter snake at the “Gishtkuprik”” border customs post. The person was apprehended without delay.
At the “”Gishtkuprik”” border customs checkpoint, a control X-ray machine checked a passenger’s bag upon entry from a nearby state.
“A snake that wasn’t mentioned verbally to customs officers or on the passenger’s customs declaration was discovered inside.”
It is believed that the snake is a tiger albino python, which is found throughout Southeast and South Asia naturally.
Because the animal is included in the International Red Book, Customs noted that “International CITIES permission is required to import this animal into the Republic of Uzbekistan.” But in the aforementioned case, the traveler was unable to produce this paperwork to the customs officers.
“An investigation is presently being carried out by the customs authorities.” Experts at the Tashkent Zoo examined the snake and found it to be in good health.
