According to the DC Lottery, a player named Phillip H., 57, bought two tickets for the Lucky for Life drawing at Anacostia Mobil on August 12.

“I always choose my own numbers, and I always receive two tickets. That’s how I win,” the player declared. “I saw that the first ticket was a winner but couldn’t find the other ticket.”

His two tickets each matched all five of the drawing’s numbers, granting him a prize of $25,000 year for the rest of his life or a one-time payout of $500,000.

Days after the drawing, Phillip collected his first prize, but he couldn’t find his lost ticket for weeks.

“After searching through old tickets, I found it and let out a big sigh of relief,” said the man.

Over a month following the drawing, Phillip was able to finally pick up his second reward. He stated that he will use his profits to purchase a new truck and do house remodeling tasks.
