Sky Sports was interviewing Ruben Amorim following Sunday’s 1-1 draw between United and Ipswich when the singer approached and embraced analyst Jamie Redknapp.
The new manager of Manchester United has received an apology from Ed Sheeran, who interrupted him during a live interview on Sky Sports.
After Sunday’s 1-1 draw between United and Ipswich, the singer approached United commentator Jamie Redknapp to embrace him while Ruben Amorim spoke.
Redknapp then instructed Sheeran to “come and say hello in a minute” after his intervention brought the interview to a finish.
There were those who felt Sheeran should have apologized because he was “rude” on social media.
“Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday, didn’t actually realise he was being interviewed at the time, was popping to say hi and bye to Jamie,” Sheeran posted on the platform.
Life continues, even though I obviously feel a bit like a bellend. Great game though; well done to everyone involved.
This was Amorim’s first game back at United since leaving Sporting Lisbon, a Portuguese team, to take charge at Portman Road.
After just two minutes, Marcus Rashford put the visitors ahead. However, Omari Hutchinson got the home team back on even terms.
As a lifetime supporter of Ipswich Town, Sheeran owns a small percentage of the club.
Following Hutchinson’s goal, he was seen rejoicing.
According to Ipswich CEO Mark Ashton, who spoke with Sheeran on a Zoom call before Swift’s performance last week, the singer helped the club recruit a new player during the offseason.
