A man named Heaven faced detention and charges after breaking into a church.

Investigators with the Snow Hill Police Department claimed that 18-year-old Heaven Elliot broke into a church and took tithes and offerings, leading to his arrest and theft charges.

Authorities said a man named Heaven broke into a church and stole money, leading to his arrest on Thursday.

The Snow Hill Police Department took Heaven Elliot, 18, into custody and charged him with breaking and entering a place of worship along with other larceny-related offenses.

Police received a call to the St. James AME Zion Church on West Harper Street on September 18. They discovered that a forcible break-in had stolen tithes and offerings from the church.

At the time of the break-in, police interviewed Elliot as a suspect. According to authorities, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office provided supporting evidence that Elliot was the burglar.

The Greene County Detention Center is currently holding Elliot under a $40,000 bond.
