 With the assistance of excited flight attendants, a man proposed to his fiancée in mid-air by recreating a scene from The Wedding Singer.

On Lissy’s birthday, Sam Riber surprised her with a performance and, as a climax, by getting down on one knee when they were travelling to Mexico.

Since the two of them enjoy watching films, Sam knew he wanted to recreate a moment from the 1998 Adam Sandler classic when he proposed on their flight on Christmas Eve.

In order to pull off the surprise, Sam collaborated with flight attendants to come up with codewords and smuggled a ukulele onto the aircraft without his fiancée noticing.

Sam proposed to Lissy while singing the movie’s theme song halfway through their journey from Charlotte, North Carolina, and received a resounding “Yes!”.

Sam remarked, “It was such a special moment.” “I nearly couldn’t believe everything went as planned.”

Less than a year ago, Sam and Lissy met at a dinner and clicked right away.

Eight months later, Sam started making plans to pop the question, much like Robbie, played by Adam Sandler in The Wedding Singer, who, while flying, serenades his sweetheart, Julia, with the song Grow Old With You.

“We frequently quote or act out films to amuse ourselves, so we’ve sung versions of that song to each other, but she was unaware of my larger plan,” he said.
