The introduction of a YouTuber into a top-flight match by an Argentinian football team has drawn criticism.

In Sunday’s league match between Deportivo Riestra and top-of-the-table Velez Sarsfield, Ivan Buhajeruk, better known as Spreen online, started as a striker.

During a break in play, the 24-year-old was substituted after playing 50 seconds, despite not having any professional football experience. The ball remained untouched by him.

This past spring, the Argentine team inked a professional deal with Mr. Buhajeruk, who boasts over seven million YouTube subscribers.

He doesn’t even know where to stand… it’s ridiculous,” a pundit for Tyc Sports, who was airing the match, had to say about the streamer’s performance.
