Living in the same apartment since 2006, Ken Wilson said he recently discovered that his Pacific Gas and Electric bill was increasing, so he tried to cut back on his energy use.

When his bill didn’t go down, he contacted PG&E.

“I thought there was a leak or someone was stealing my electricity or the meter was faulty because something wasn’t right,” he stated to CBS Sacramento.

When a utility company representative came to check Wilson’s meter, he found that the firm had been billing him for the apartment next door rather than his own.

Wilson claimed that over his eighteen years at the apartment, the confusion might have persisted.

“We acknowledge an error occurred in this instance, and we are fully committed to rectifying the situation with the customer and make the customer whole,” PG&E stated in a statement.
