A woman was reunited with long-lost relatives after a postcard written 121 years ago was eventually delivered to the correct place.

The postcard arrived at a Swansea location that is currently owned by Swansea Building Society and led to an incredible familial link. The postcard was addressed to Ewart’s sister Lydia, who also happens to be Roberts’ grandfather’s sister, according to Helen Roberts, who still lives nearby. The message on the postcard read, “”Dear L., I was not able to get my hands on these two. I apologize deeply, but I hope you’re enjoying yourselves at home. With the exception of the train fare, I currently have roughly 10/- [shillings] in pocket money, so I’m doing okay. I should be on John and Miss Gilbert’s minds. With love, from everyone at Ewart.””

After news of the postcard spread, the 58-year-old Roberts, who had been researching his family history online, received a message. Roberts continued, “”A woman came across the article on social media, looked up the name and address on the postcard on Ancestry, and connected it to my family tree.” “”””As soon as I saw the details, I knew that the house and his sister Lydia from my grandfather’s childhood were there.”

Margaret Spooner, the sister of Roberts, and Nick Davies, the grandson of Ewart, along with Lydia’s great-granddaughter Faith Reynolds, had their first meeting on Wednesday. The reunion was attended by family members from all across the country; Davies came from West Sussex and Reynolds from Devon.

Roberts said, “Meeting family I never even knew existed was amazing.” I’ve been able to tie up some loose ends and discover more about my grandfather’s siblings thanks to this.”The postcard was essential in reuniting the family; it is thought to have been sent by Ewart when he was staying with his grandparents in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire.””We’re keeping in touch, and it’s been great to exchange knowledge,” Roberts said. We clicked immediately away.””

The story has also captured the attention of family members living abroad; after the announcement, a relative in Canada got in touch with the author. “”From locating the postcard to witnessing the reaction worldwide, every aspect of this adventure has been incredible. It’s truly incredible,” Roberts exclaimed.
